Bouncing to raise money

Early Years joined in with the whole school to raise money for the 'Friends of Belle Vue School' (FOBS).  The children bounced enthusiatically for 5 mins at a time and had enormous fun.

Once upon a time

Early Years had a great time at the Fairy Tale Ball.  The children danced very gracefully and looked fantastic in their costumes!

Home learning project Year 2

Year Two children have really entered into the spirit of the Spring term Home Learning project, "Have Fun, Get Fit,Be The Best You Can Be!"

Many children made fitness books and posters demonstrating healthy activities, which they had tried. Some children had a go at healthy menus! 

Well done to all families who participated in the project, the outcomes were fantastic and we were impressed at your amazing creativity!

Out of This World

Our trip to INTECH

Last week Year 1 went on an exciting trip to the science centre in Winchester.

There were lots of things to explore and find out about.

There was a fitness area where we discovered how high we could jump, how fast we could run and how quickly we could row a boat!

We were even able to make our own tornado in a special machine. We had to get the amount of moisture and wind just right.

In one area we found out lots of information about our bodies. There was a camera that showed us which parts of our body gave off the most heat. There were also mirrors which changed our shape.

After lunch, we went into the planetarium and watched an amazing show about the planets in our solar system. Did you know that some planets are only made of gas?

An exciting day in Early Years

Year R had a very exciting day today with not one special visitor but two!
The children had a wonderful time watching Magic Tom perform his amazing magic show.

Magic Tom used his magic to pull the biggest magic wand in the world out of the tiniest bag!

The children helped to magic the rope back into one piece.

Then Magic Tom used his magic powers to bring Olaf to life.  At first he didn't realise his magic powers had worked until ....

Olaf started to follow him - he's behind you!!

Then Magic Tom made six presents appear out of an empty bag  ... how did he do that?  It must be magic!

The children in Maple, Ash and Cherry Class loved every single second on his show!

 Our second very special visitor was, of course, Father Christmas!

All the children were very excited to meet him and each child received a gift.  They were all trying very hard to show Father Christmas their very best behaviour so that he will come and visit them on Christmas Eve.  Let's hope they can keep it up!!

Autumn Term

We have now fully settled into Year One and have been doing lots of exciting things during the Autumn term.


In October we went outside and made dens as part of our materials topic for science. We used different materials, such as the fallen leaves and sticks, fabric, plastic and even tin foil! After building the dens we tested them to see which material was the strongest, safest and most waterproof . Which material do you think made the best den?


During Book Week we read the story 'Room on the Broom' and took part in lots of exciting activities, including a fantastic drama workshop. We had fun pretending to be the characters from the story.

This half term we have been looking at light and dark. Each class has a dark den where we can explore different light sources. . We even made reflective reindeer belts for Rudolph by choosing the shiniest materials.

In a Land of Magic

Year 2 have been very busy already this year!

We have learnt about the features of castles and their purposes. We worked as a team to build a castle big enough for us to fit inside.










Our visit to Windsor castle made us realise just how ENORMOUS castles are!









We enjoyed the workshop where we got to dress up in a range of costumes and reenact castle invasions, and special cermonies such as awarding a knighthood.






We learnt about why castles have gargoyles and had the opportunity to make our own using clay. We had to push, pull and twist to manipulate the clay into different shapes.
Do you think our gargoyles would scare away the enemy?
