Recent News and Reminders

* Our FOBS Sponsored Walk managed to raise just under £400 for the school, so thank you again to all who took part.

* This Saturday 13th June is the annual Federation School Fair at Belle Vue School (11 - 2pm). It would be lovely to see everyone there supporting Belle Vue and Newport Schools.

We would still love to hear from you if you can spare any time to help on the day, please contact Lucy Marlor, a FOBS member or contact FOBS through the school office for further info.

We have lots of fun planned including a coconut shy, raffle with FANTASTIC prizes, bouncy castle, BBQ, hook-a-duck, craft stalls and some special treats from the children.

We have 'booked' the good weather for Saturday so hopefully the sun will be shining on us! See you there!!!!

* We hope the sunflowers are doing well !! Don't forget if your plant has died, it is fine to plant another. The children are very much looking forward to showing their exhibitions on the 10th July (in the children's classes from 2.40pm - 3.00pm). And we will, of course, show the results on the blog.

A Day To Remember

As we noted on a previous blog post, our new library is now OPEN!

On the 23rd March we held an opening ceremony and invited the Mayor of Rushmoor, Councillor Alan Ferrier, to officially open the new library.

Escorted by Year Two School Council members he visited all our classrooms and enjoyed talking to the staff and children.

A plaque is on the library wall to commemorate this special occasion.

It is a wonderful learning resource for the school and the children are really enjoying using it.

The Activemark Award

We can proudly announce that the school has achieved the Activemark Award from the Department for Children, Schools and Families.
This reward has been given for exceptional delivery of the National School Sport Strategy. We were commended on the commitment we have to high quality regular PE and sports activities.

School Projects!

This term's Home Learning Project is another interesting one - 'Grow a Sunflower!'

Each child in the school has planted a sunflower seed in a pot to grow at home, and there will be an exhibition on the 10th July to see the results! (you don't need to bring in the sunflower, but we're hoping to see some pictures).

A notebook or scrapbook can be used to present the work and some activities include measuring the sunflower as it grows, taking pictures, researching how to grow a sunflower and drawing pictures along the way.

We hope the children enjoy the project and we can't wait to see the results!

What have we been up to recently??

We wanted to take the opportunity to share some pictures of the beautiful work the children have been doing recently.
We have many wonderful displays around the school at the moment and we wanted to share some pictures with you.

As you can see, the children have been working so hard and they are very proud of the displays, and rightly so!
Well done everyone.

FOBS Sponsored Walk - 25th April

Both Belle Vue and Newport children enjoyed a fancy dress sponsored walk to raise money for FOBS on Saturday 25th April.

Thank you to all those who came along to support FOBS and the school - we were very lucky with the weather in the end!

The children walked as many laps of the school as they could to 'earn' stamps, some even managed to do some laps BACKWARDS!!!

There were refreshments available including lots of hotdogs and cups of fruit!

We are still collecting the sponsorship money, but will let you know the final amount raised asap.

Thank you again for taking part and helping to raise money for the school.
