Friday 5th June

We've enjoyed seeing lots of you back at school with us this week and thank you to everyone who has sent us photos of their home learning!

We started the week by reading a new story about a koala called Kevin and Year One have enjoyed learning all about Australia. We've also had fun investigating the differences between Australia and the UK - the weather was the first thing we noticed! We found out about amazing places in Australia including the Great Barrier Reef.....

We've looked at lots of Australian animals and have used our knowledge about mammals, fish, reptiles and birds to sort them into groups.

After sorting the animals, we looked at some Aboriginal animal paintings - we liked how they use bright colours and dotty patterns!

In the story, Kevin the Koala was very good at clinging to his tree and munching leaves. We decided to think about what we are good at and how lucky we are that everyone is good at different things!
Lots of us in Year One are good at drawing, running and being a kind friend. Some of us are even good at cleaning and baking!

We also thought about what it felt like to be brave and talked about things we would like to try. We hope the deep end of the swimming pool is ready for us!

The Year One team hope everyone at home is well and staying safe.
We look forward to seeing more of your amazing home learning next week!
