Wildlife Area

On Saturday 9th October 2010, parents, teachers and governors all met up to continue the transformation of the wildlife area into an interesting and exciting space for the children to learn.

We cleared the paths and pond as well as undertaking the difficult task of pulling out the brambles.

Bulbs were planted and we are now looking forward to a colourful array of flowers during the spring time.

The entrance to the wildlife area is now framed by two eye catching raised beds.

To encourage more wild visitors to the area, can you spot the new habitats we introduced?

We are hoping to see birds, butterflies, frogs and ladybirds as a result.

By tying rope around the trees we created a trail for the children to follow whilst blindfolded. Though guiding one another this sensory experience will provide them with the opportunity to gain valuable team building skills.

Thank you once again to everyone who came along to help.

Year 2 - Over and Out!

Year 2 have had a very exciting week. On Thursday we performed our Leaver's Assembly to our parents and friends, and today we have had our Leaver's Party. We played lots of fun games and danced to all of our favourite music. We particularly enjoyed wrapping the adults up in toilet roll. What a fantastic week! Thank you to FOBs for making our party happen.

Minibeasts galore!

As part of Year 2's topic 'I Spy' we have been looking at our school grounds and what habitats we can find. We explored the pond area, the woodland and the dry school playground.

What minibeasts do you think we found? Next time you are at school, take a closer look at some of these areas and see what you can find!

Pinocchio

Recently, we were visited by a Theatre Company who performed the story of Pinocchio for us. It was great!
Who was your favourite character?

We cordially invite you to our fairytale banquet with the King and Queen...

Early Years were invited to a Fairytale ball by the King and Queen earlier this week as an end to our Once Upon a Time topic. We all came to school dressed as fairytale characters. We had princes and princesses, pirates and even a pig!

We started the day with fun and fabulous fairytale activities. We made yummy cakes, sparkly crowns and searched for the crown jewels. After lunch we then showed off our super outfits with a parade before settling down at our tables for our banquet. It was a gorgeous day with the sun shining, so we took the ball outside. We sat at long tables to eat scrumptious fruit jelly and ice cream (remembering our table manners!) and listened to some orchestral music. After, we had the opportunity to share our talents and perform a song or dance on our stage! We have some great singers in Early Years! To finish off the afternoon, we all joined together for a dance and learned how to dance with a partner to the Waltz.

We all had a lovely day, full of fairytale and fantasy!
