Let's Celebrate!

Year 2 have been looking carefully at how to write a clear set of instructions.
As part of our topic 'Let's Celebrate' we decided to plan a party. Between Monday and Thursday we wrote instructions explaining how to make a party hat, how to play musical statues and how to make the perfect ice cream sundae. On Friday we put our instructions to the test and followed the instructions we had written.

The party was a great success! Why don't you try writing instructions to go with your home learning project?

We're not afraid of the big bad wolf!

Plane class enjoyed performing the story of The Three Little Pigs in their class assembly.

Our assembly showed the importance of using the right materials when building a house. We sang many songs and showed the art, geography and science work we have been doing this term!

Anyone fancy a sandwich?

Year Two have really enjoyed designing, making and evaluating a sandwich with older children from Newport Junior School and The Connaught School.

We worked in teams with children from each school contributing to the design of the sandwich. Sometimes we had to take a vote to help us decide which ingredients to use and one group even played 'Rock, Paper, Scissors, Stone!'

We could choose from a range of protein including: cheese, ham and egg and we also had to decide which sandwich 'extras' we wanted to use to make our sandwich the most delicious! The best part was deciding how to present our sandwiches to make them look the best!

Which of our sandwiches would you want to eat? Leave a comment on the message board!

What's your favourite sandwich flavour?

In Year Two, we have been enjoying surveying our friends to find out their favourite flavour of sandwich filling. To help us understand our data we drew bar charts. The most popular flavour had the tallest bar. In Birch class jam and tuna were the joint favourites whilst Chestnut and Hazel preferred cheese! What's your favourite sandwich flavour?
We are really looking forward to making our sandwiches with children from Newport Junior and The Connaught School next week!
