Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

We had a fantastic time today making snowmen with our lunchtime supervisors. We worked together as a team and played very sensibly in the snow. We'd like to say a big thank you to all our wonderful lunchtime supervisors for making play time such fun!

Do you like Frosty?

Let it snow in Cherry Class

Yesterday we took the opportunity to go out in the snow and have a go with our new cameras. We took lots of photos and even made a short video of us having fun out in the snow.

A big thank you to FOBs for making this possible!

It's a cold and frosty morning

Over the last few weeks our topic has been 'On a cold and frosty morning'. We had fun finding out about penguins and where they live.

We used different skills making penguins out of clay, paper and paint. We found out lots of information about penguins using books, photos, film and the internet which helped us to describe penguins to our friends.

At Christmas we turned part of our role play area into Santa's Grotto. Here we wrote letters to Santa, made toys for Santa's elves and enjoyed taking turns at being Santa.

'Let's Cook!' Autumn Term Home Learning Project

Our Home Learning Project this term was entitled 'Let's Cook!'.

Each child was able to put a scrapbook together about cooking and preparing food at home.

Some children even bought in their fabulous creations!

Each scrapbook could contain things like receipes, photographs, and shopping lists for instance.

All the children worked very hard and we were so pleased with the results!

A big well done to all the children of Belle Vue - your scrapbooks were fantastic!!

Mmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

Everyone in school was very excited when the snow arrived today, and just in time for playtime!

We hope you enjoyed it as much as us!

Christingle celebrations!

As part of our Christmas celebrations, all the children have learnt about the Christingle and made their own to take home. The four cocktail sticks, ladened with fruit and sweets, represent the four corners of our world and remind us of all the good things God gave to the world. The red ribbon represents Jesus's blood and reminds us that he died on the cross. Whilst making our Christingles, we thought about a class wish to make the world a better place.

Year 2 celebrate St Lucia's day

Year 2 have been learning about different celebrations.

They decided to celebrate St Lucia's day. The oldest girl in each class dressed up in a white robe with a sash and wore a crown of evergreen leaves and candles.

St Lucia and led a parade around the classroom offering food to her peers.

They also learnt to sing a song in Swedish which is traditionally sung on St Lucia's day.

New whiteboard easels!

We would like to say a huge thank you to our wonderful FOBs who have bought new whiteboard easels for the classrooms. The teachers and children are enjoying using their new boards to help them with modelling and sharing good writing.

Move over Spielberg!...

The children of belle Vue would like to say a huge thank you to FOBS for their recent purchase of three FLIP video cameras for curriculum use. The children are really looking forward to improving their speaking and listening skills by videoing themselves and critiquing their performances. Who knows, maybe the next Hollywood blockbuster will be filmed here!

Move over Sir Alan!

This term, a group of pupils from Year Two have participated in an 'Enterprise Challenge.' They established their own business (The Crazy Christmas Cracker Co.) and developed a range of products to sell at the School Christmas Fair. Not only did they have to advertise their products by creating eye-catching and informative posters but they also had to decide what price to charge...bearing in mind that they wanted to make a profit!

In the end, their range of crackers and seasonal door wreaths sold incredibly quickly, helped by the extremely proficient sales technique of Cassandra and James! They made a total profit of £17.50 and will now meet to decide how the money will be spent!

Well done Year Two and ... watch out Sir Alan, we might have to say: 'Your Fired!'

Fire Crew Visit

Year 1 had an exciting day when the Hampshire Fire Crew came to visit. They learnt all about being safe - Get Out! Stay Out! Call 999.

The children had great fun dressing up as fire fighters and using a hose to put out a pretend fire.
Some comments from the children...
"I liked putting the helmet on," said Ellie.
"I liked getting dressed up," said Abbey.
"I liked it when I drove the fire engine," said Maddie.
